Somalilandsun:The president of Somaliland H.E Musa Bihi Abdi has rewarded the top Quran
memorizers in the country. According to Somaliland News Agency (SOLNA)
reporters at the presidential palace confirmed that the top student
received a brand new car and other accessories. The competition is held annually during the holy month of Ramadan and is organized by the ministry of religious endowment. The competition is held at the famous Ali Matan
Mosque situated at the heart of Hargeisa city.
An awarding ceremony was held at the presidential palace where the head of
state was flanked by his vice president H.E Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismael
(Sayli’i) and top government leaders like minister of religious endowment
Sheikh Khalil and renowned religious leaders such as Sheikh Mohammed Adam
of Ali Matan Mosque.
First to take the dais was the director general of the ministry of
religious endowment Mr.Adan Abdillahi Abdille confirmed that this Quran
competition is the sixth held in the country and was started by the former
president Mr.Ahmed Mohammed Mohammud (Silanyo). He stated that nows
president Musa has taken over the baton to continue with the tradition of
encouraging the putting to memory the book of Almighty Allah, the Quran.
Also speaking a well known mullah Sheikh Mohammed Adam said that the
president had put himself in the history books by motivating the
appreciation of the book of Allah. Sheikh Mohammed Adam went on to say that
the head of stated had encouraged the youngsters of the nation by taking
upon himself to vouch for the Book of Allah the holy Quran.
The minister of religious endowment Mr.Khalil Abdillahi congratulated the
president for becoming an inspirational force to the next generation of
Somaliland youth so that it shall forever be etched in their young minds
the value of the Holy Quran and it teachings will be emulated.
The president speaking at the Quran award ceremony first and foremost
thanked the parents and teachers for their input to produce well bred
children these are his words “I’m congratulating allof you who have
participated in this competition. I’m astonished to see that some of these
youths are very young that I can’t imagine how they put the Quran into
memory it is amazing grace.”
The president highlighted the importance of the Holy Quran in this world
and the hereafter and encouraged the spread of its teaching to all corners
of the country.
Last but not least the president awarded the top memorizers with their
prizes a boy from Marodijeeh region called Hamza Mohammud Yassin scooped
the top a brand new car, money and other goodies.
