HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Representatives of university Students have engaged in discussions on national issues with the head of state H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo.
The president brief students meeting which was held at a local hotel in Hargeisa saw a candid exchange of views and ides between the two sides thus concurrence on the imperative need for similar undertakings on a regular basis.
President Silanyo who upon briefing on prevalent multi-sectored developments in the country and planned way forward thence fielded numerous questions from the student reps who displayed a clear grasp of areas of their academic pursuits vis ‘a’ vis the nation.
In his second brief students meeting president Silanyo was accompanied by the minister of foreign affairs Dr Mohamed Abdilahi Omar, presidency minister Hirsi Haji Ali, Deputy information minister Abdilahi Ukuse and Youth and sports minister Ali Said Raygal.
The student leaders represented their colleagues from five universities based in the capital city namely: Admas, Golis, Hargeisa, Alfa and New Generation universities.
To concluded the meet was student leader Ms Naema Abdirahman Galleh who presented the president with a certificate awarded by the university students in honour of his educational policies that have seen the increase in new student registration in schools and decrease in drop-out rates due to the introduction of free education two years ago.
