Purpose of the Position

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and passionate team based in Somaliland that works together to

improve the quality of health, nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene, and basic education of Somali girls and boys and

protect them from violence, exploitation and abuse.

Purpose of the Post

Under the general supervision of the Admin & Finance Officer, perform administrative support functions for Hargeisa

zonal office, which includes supervision of clerical and administrative staff engaged in administrative fields of work, such

as registry and transportation, as indicated by the requirements and structure of the organization.

Key Expected Results

1. Performs admin work, including interpretation and processing of entitlements, issuance of contracts and maintenance

of various office records and files.

2. Briefs international personnel on general administrative matters relating to visas, licenses, security; provides advice

and ensures administrative support, as required

3. Advises and assists other staff in the area of office management. Arranges for and/or attends meetings on day-to-day

administrative matters; participates in discussions of new or revised procedures and practices; interprets and assesses

the impact of changes; and makes recommendations for follow-up actions

4. Prepares, on own initiative, correspondence, reports, evaluations and justifications, as required, on general

administrative or specialized tasks which may be of a confidential nature within the assigned area of responsibility.

5. Assists in the preparation of office budgets applicable to staff and servicing costs, and maintains necessary budgetary

control records.

6. In addition to general administration responsibilities, may also supervise directly or indirectly, activities concerned with

office and grounds maintenance, security, custodial cleaning, ancillary staff, transport, property control, management of

assets and similar services

7. Requisitions office supplies and equipment locally and abroad, and arranges for control of distribution and maintenance

of appropriate inventory and NEP records.

8. Provides interpretation of administrative rules, regulations and procedures

9. Performs other duties, as required.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

Completion of secondary education, supplemented by diploma or certificate in the administrative filed.

Six (6) years of progressively responsible clerical and administrative work.

Fluency in both written and spoken Somali and English required.

Good knowledge of Computer Applications.

Good knowledge of air ticketing procedures and processes.

Ability to work under pressure.

Negotiating skills

Tact, patience and flexibility.

Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective

Working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
