HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – With 1.5% of the population confirmed to be infected or living with HIV/Aids the police force which deals with the infected, affected and uninfected members of society on a daily basis are now able to differentiate facts from myths on HIV transmission.

This development follows a training program fronted by UNDP that has so far seen a large number of police officers pooled from all the regions of Somaliland receive knowledge on the basics of HIV/Aids thence skills to differentiate facts from Fiction on the infection as well as ways to treat infected offenders humanly and without discrimination.

With over 30 new infection cases reported monthly and the discrimination and stigmatization accorded People living with Aids-PLWAs the skills acquired by the Somaliland police force shall go a long way in facilitating ease of interaction.
