Somalilandsun – The Somaliland Justice and Welfare Party (UCID) held a meeting in London in order to present their party platform for the up-coming parliamentary and presidential elections in Somaliland.
The meeting which was well attended by supporters from the United Kingdom and all across Europe, was addressed by several of the party’s senior leaders including prospective presidential candidate Jamal Ali Hussein, party Secretary-General, Ahmed Aden Ismail “Keyse” and chair, Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe.
Speaking to the delegates and supporters, both Jamal Ali Hussein and Ahmed Aden Ismail stressed that the party platform will concentrate on the economic development of the country, the strengthening of the health, education, water resources, security and judicial arenas, as well as, the redevelopment of Somaliland’s rural communities and their habitat which has been severely neglected under the current administration of President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud “Silaanyo”.
Both prospective presidential candidate Jamal Ali Hussein and party Secretary-General, Ahmed Aden Ismail “Keyse” called for the unity of the people of Somaliland and the continuing campaign for Somaliland’s de-jure international recognition. Both officials supported the steps taken by the administration in terms of the opening rounds of talks with provisional government in Somalia, but, have also called for the strengthening of Somaliland’s Foreign Affairs policies and logistics which have shrunk under the current leadership.
UCID which had emerged along with Waddani in last years local council elections as the official opposition to the ruling Kulmiye party and has called for the holding of the scheduled parliamentary elections and the presidential elections in 2015.
