Somalilandsun- The government of Somaliland has handed over a unit of Liyuu police to the Zone five Somalia administrative region of Ethiopia.
The Zone five special unit composed of five soldiers, a driver and a civilian were arrested deep inside Somaliland by local security forces.
Their capture came after alleged unaware incursion deep inside Somaliland more specifically on the southern boundaries of Maroodi-jeeh (Hargeisa) region.
subsequent investigations in the capital Hargeisa that satisfied security chiefs that the incursion Was unintended resulted in the swift return to their home country.
The return of the Liyuu police unit and subsequent handover to Ethiopian authorities took place at the Wajale border town.
While regular incursions into Somaliland by Liyuu police have been observed in the past this is the first time for an arrest and subsequent handover.
