Somaliland: Science Tops “O” Levels Examinations

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – of the 7310 students who sat for the 2012-2013 secondary schools final examinations in Somaliland 7071 passed with flying colours.

This was revealed by the ministry of education in a statement released by the Director of the national examination board Mr. Daud Ahmed Farah.

“The top ten ranked candidates were all from the science stream” Said the Director as he read the official list of rankings by Schools and individual students in the “O”level exams that not a single student failed.

The data released by the ministry of education indicates that 7310 candidates registered for the final examinations that saw 293 students abstain thus a total examined as 7017.

The data further indicates that the 2012-2013 “O” examination enters the country’s history books for having pulled all the top ranked students from the science stream of two schools namely SOS in Sheikh of Sahil region and Nuradin Secondary of Marodhi-jeeh (Hargeisa) region.

The top ranked were as indicated in the table below”

As for the class eight examinations which registered 12142 pupils nationwide 11679 were successfully while 193 failed and 271 did not participate.
