In 1991 Somaliland withdrew from its voluntary later turned fateful union of 1960 with Somalia a former Italian Colony which continues to claim jurisdictional authority over the former British protectorate to the North of Mogadishu.
The full annual address to the nation, the last for president Silanyo who leaves office after the planned March 2017 elections was delivered in Somali language and shall be published verbatim immediately translation is completed. Keep watch of this site
