Somalilandsun – The existing bi-lateral relations between Somaliland and Ethiopia are set for higher heights.
This follows a meeting between a Somaliland and Ethiopian foreign policy officials in Addis Ababa where the two sides concurred on the imperatives of enhancing the two countries cooperation as pertains to Security, Trade, cross border movement of citizens among others.
the republic of Somaliland was represented by its foreign policy chief Mohamed Behi Younis and its representative in Ethiopia Ayanle Salad Dirie with the hosts led by the Ethiopian State minister for Foreign affairs Ambassador Berhane and the African desk director among others officers
Discussions also dwelt on broader security issues in the Horn region and more specifically local impact of the ongoing war in Yemen as well as concerted action in relation to the large number of refugees fleeing the Saudi led war.
Prior to his meeting in Ethiopia Minister Mohamed Behi was in Europe where he met and held similar Yemeni refugees related talks with senior UNHCR officials in Geneva where the UN body pledged to intensify intervention.
The Geneva meeting was precluded by a visit to Norway where fruitful discussions with authorities and Parliamentarians in Oslo where the Somaliland foreign minister had flown to from parleying Italian government officials in Rome.
According to a press statement released by Mohamed Hasan Saeed the director general at the foreign ministry in Hargeisa the shuttle diplomacy pursued by minister Behi is catapulted by strategies designed by president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo towards achieving the Somaliland quest for international recognition as a sovereign country.
