HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – “”We applaud our Ethiopian friends during their national festivities occasioned by commemorations marking the 24th anniversary of Ginbot-20 Victory day.”
This congratulatory message was extended by the president of Somaliland Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo at the Egal international airport in Hargeisa where he officiated the launching of a number of development projects at the national capital.
Terming the people of Ethiopia and their federal government as true friends of Somaliland the head of state wished Ethiopians residing in various parts of Somaliland and in the neighbouring country happy commemorations of the 24th anniversary of their nations Ginbot-20 victory day that is celebrated annually on the 28th of May.
At commemorations hosted by the Somaliland based Ethiopian Consul General in Hargeisa where citizens joined Ethiopians residing in the country in the festivities the president Silanyo was represented by his deputy Vice president Abdirahman Abdilahi Sayli who led a high powered team composed of senior political leaders and government officials.
The Ginbot-20 victory day is commemorated in celebration of the defeat of the repressive Dergue regime in Ethiopia on the 28th May 1991
