Somalilandsun- The mystery surrounding the first ever face to face meet between Somaliland president Muse Bihi Abdi and his Somalia counterpart Abdilahi Farmajo is set for culmination this week.

The information on the meet in Addis Ababa much anticipated by Somalilanders both in the Diaspora and in-country shall end as president Bihi makes his annual speech to the nation during a full session of both houses of Parliament in Hargeisa.

Last week in Addis Ababa the Ethiopian premiere Abiy Ahmed who was hosting the 33rd summit of the African Union took time on the sidelines to bring together the hitherto nemesis President’s Somaliland and Somalia for discussion dubbed   ‘Fresh Hope for Horn of Africa’

While it is not clear what the two discussed, their meeting could unlock the impasse that has existed between the two countries for close to three decades when Somaliland declared its own independence from Somalia on May 18, 1991, after the start of the civil war.

Somaliland has since then been pushing for international recognition but Somalia has ensured this does not happen to claim the former remains part of its regions.

Despite sketchy revelations of what transpired in the forty minutes at the Ethiopian prime minister’s office what are clear are that president Farmajo officered Somalia’s apologies for genocide undertaken by former dictator Mohamed Siyad Barre in Somaliland.

While the meet with president Farmajo is top of agenda for Somaliland citizens it is expected as usual that president Muse Bihi shall also touch on issues related to the national elections commission which is now devoid of opposition political parties representatives as well as other tangible national issues;.
