Somaliland sun – The Head of State has appealed for peaceful stability and a return to the harmonious setting that the people cherished. He said that its observance was an obligation upon everybody.
The President made the appeal in the background of the recent skirmishes that fatally claimed lives in El-afweyn.
Said he, “Peace, respecting other’s rights, living harmoniously together and stability are aspects that has been the pointers depicting the essence of the republic of Somaliland and we have basked in it while cherishing it for the past quarter of a century”.
He said that it was because of such reasons that he calls for the return to peaceful stability and for the warring factions to stop forthwith any animosity or acrimony between them.
He said that the meaningless killings had no room hence the country could not afford any loss of a single life.
The President reminded the public, in particular the residents of the area in question, that chaos claimed lives of all, the young, the old, the brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and all relatives.
He sent condolences to the slain or killed persons in the fracas between the two communities and the country at large.
He particularly appealed to, and called for, the elders, traditional leaders and entrepreneurs of the area to work towards the stabilizing of the peaceful stability.
He lastly called for the immediate maintenance of public order.
Somaliland information minister Osman SahardiidOn the other hand the minister of information, national guidance and culture echoed similar words and called for the immediate halting of any acrimony. He at the same time called for the maintenance and observation of public order.
Hon. Osman Sahardid disclosed that the state has banned the carrying or brandishing of weapons by the residents of the areas afflicted by the skirmishes.
He said that “no individual or group of individuals” would brandish any weapons and that whoever is seen with it would face the full force of the law.
Similar calls for the halting of the enmity were made by the speaker of the Guurti Hon. Suleiman Mohamud Aden and local members of parliament from the area.
Hon. Suleiman said that the matter was in the hands of the government and called for the return of normalcy.

Hargeisa-THT: The chairman of the ruling party who is also the Kulmiye flag bearer in the Presidential elections Musa Bihi Abdi has called for calm and passionately appealed to the Dararweyne/ El-afweyn communities of Sanaag region to forthwith stop the animosity and fracas between them that has already claimed fatal casualties.
The chairman was speaking yesterday in a press conference he called at his office whereby he was categorical that “fueling bad blood” only worsened situations.
He sent condolences to the people who have so far died in the unfortunate incidence in the area that gun-tootlers waged.
He appealed to the youth and elders of the area to forge for unity and avoid the situation whereby enemies of Somaliland could manipulate.
Chairman Bihi at the same time asked the residents to work with the members of the security forces to ensure that peace and stability is maintained instead of battling them.
It is reported that amongst the fatalities of the skirmishes are senior military official.

He was speaking about the 6 locations in the north of Hargeisa whose boundary matters has always been an issue that has not been addressed hence have costed the area residence not to exercise their political rights in the past.
On the boundaries issue the chairman was categorical that it was as per article 27 of the local governance constitution thus as per the 1960 colonial districts and divisional borders.
He called for conciliatory talks to put things right and asked politicians not to fuel matters to un-bound limits.
