Somalilandsun – A high level ceremonial party was held at Crown Hotel in Hargeisa for the opening of Djibouti Consulate General in Hargeisa.
Key government ministries headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation of Somaliland, the national political parties, Diplomatic corps in Somaliland, MPs, business community, officials of Djiboutian community in Somaliland, folklore actors, several media groups and other guests participated in the event.
Key speeches were given in regards to the historic bilateral relations of Somaliland and Djibouti and the significance of this representative office for strengthening relations and the joint cooperation of the two friendly countries.
Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation of Somaliland, Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire addressed the participants pointing out the mutual relations of Djibouti and Somaliland and the common issues the two nations share in terms of cultural, social, economic, security and political aspects. The Minister underlined that the established mission is adding more value to the friendly relations “It is a great pleasure for me to attend this important event. This Mission will serve the needs of Djiboutian nationals in Somaliland, the business community and all those who need it” said the Minister.
Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation of Somaliland, Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire thanked the President of Djibouti, H.E Ismail Omer Geelle and promised to provide all the necessary cooperation for the new Ambassador.
Ambassador of Djibouti to Somaliland, Amb. Hussein Omer Kawaleye gave a long speech regarding the friendly relations of Somaliland and Djibouti and the representational mission of Djibouti in Somaliland he is heading. “I am pleased to be the first Ambassador who officially establishes this mission in the capital of Somaliland, Hargeisa and I am thanking President of Djibouti H.E Ismail Omer Gelle for appointing me representative of Djibouti in Somaliland. I fully endorse of all the speeches given in respect to the relations of Djibouti and Somaliland” said the Ambassador
The other key speakers included Chairpersons of the Somaliland National Political Parties, Kulmiye, UCID and Wadani, Mujahid Muse Behi Abdi, Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe and Abdirahman Abdillahi Mohamed respectively who all appreciated the opening of Djibouti Mission in Somaliland. Similarly the businessmen Mr. Jama Omar and Omer Aidid speaking on behalf of Djiboutian businesspeople and Djibouti community in Somaliland welcomed the new Ambassador and thanked President of Djibouti, H.E. Ismail Omer Geelle.
