Somaliland: New Building HQs for Justice Ministry

HARGEISA- (Somalilandsun): The vice president of the republic of Somaliland Hon. Abdirahman Abdilahi Sayli opened on Wednesday a new building for the ministry of justice while flanked by the Justice Minister Hon. Hussein Ahmed Aideed.

The opening ceremony saw the attendance of senior officials gracing it, amongst them the Commissioner of the National Police Forces Brigadier General Abdilahi Fadal Iiman, high court magistrates, members of the parliament, the Attorney General and other government officials.

In his opening speech the vice president said Somaliland people had decided to be sovereign hence had democratic elected leaders striving on development and getting the country to move forward.

Hon. Aideed thanked UNODC who sponsored the construction of the new building.

Somaliland: NERAD Focuses on Environmental Degradation

Several environmental issues stake-holding institution met at Nerad headquarters to ponder on the ways and means of alleviating environmental degradation.

The meeting which was attended by the Minister of Agriculture Hon. Prof. Farah Cilmi Gedoole and the director of NERAD governmental agency Mr. Mohamed Musa Awale, was basically about how to stop further desertification.

Those who also attended the meeting included officials from the ministry of environmental services, representatives from the universities of Hargeisa and Golis and some officials of ministry of planning.

The officials who attended the meeting appealed to the people of Somaliland to aid in preventing environmental degradation in the country. The environment is very important for animals and livelihoods in general. NERAD is the governmental agency charged with environmental issues and those concerning natural disasters.
