Somalilandsun: The National Electoral Commission-NEC is both determined and committed to a conduct of timely, free and fair elections in Somaliland.
This was revealed by the electoral body during launch a nationwide Training on VR Update & Card Distribution for its Regional and Districts Election Officers at a function attended by all Seven NEC Commissioners in Hargeisa
The Training of NEC, REOs & DEOs will be in phases, with the initial stage targeting beneficiaries from Awdal, Marodi-jeeh and Sahil regions already on-going in the capital Hargeisa.
The next phase will see the officials (at both regional and district levels) in Togdeer Sanaag and Sool regions being trained.
The exercise, which kicked off on 30th January, 2021, is part and parcel of the electioneering processes, whose rigorous chores are tailored to meet the challenges of seeing to it that free and fair elections are conducted in the country, to fruitful conclusion.
NEC has just completed a nationwide voter registration in readiness for the first ever consolidated parliamentary and local councils elections slated for Somaliland on the 31st of May this year.
