HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The ruling Kulmiye party is today expected to formally postpone the long awaited general meeting to the end of the year.

The central committee is to convene at Hotel Maansoor in an extra ordinary session slated to back the Head of State’s call to postpone the meeting to the 25th of December.

The deliberations are also expected to extend the terms of the party’s top office bearers in line with the postponement since their preiod was to expire today, the 31st of March 2013.

There was a lot of political jockeying last month following the President’s call to the central committee postponement pitting senior party officials against each other as they rallied support to run for top offices.

H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud cited tight and busy calendar for the executive hence hectic schedules would be interfered with.

The President cited the 25th day of December as a proper time to hold the party’s GM.

Reports also indicate that the central committee would hold its April meeting as scheduled.
