Officials register those Seeking Safe haven from Yemen at Berbera port in Somaliland

Somalilandsun – Around 100,000 people have fled the civil war that erupted in Yemen in late March with Berbera being the entry point for the majority of this number that seek safety in Somaliland.

Among the 28,000 Yemeni refugees who crossed the gulf and settled in Somaliland is Adra Sarraf a 33-year-old mother of four whose dangerous journey she justified with these words “Somaliland than Yemen, is because we hope that aid workers might come to our rescue before we die.” And though she is fearful of her kids starving, her presence is a reversal of fortunes as reported by Tonny Onyulo in a piece titled Somalis used to flee to Yemen to escape war. Now it’s the other way around
