HARGEISA (Somaliland sun) – Somalia has for the first time hosted an annual meeting the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Assembly of Heads of State and Government
Held in Mogadshi the one day summit was participated by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister H.E Hailemariam Desalegn, who is also the chairperson of the IGAD Assembly, Kenya’s President H.E Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, Uganda’s President H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E Mohamed Yousif Abdelmannan and Sudan’s ambassador to Somalia H.E Mahboub Mohamed Maalim.
In its communique released in Mogadishu at the end of the one day summit cum 28th extra-ordinary session the IIGAD Heads of State and Government “(We) encouraged all Somalis to participate in the 2016 electoral process and hope that free and fair elections are conducted within the timelines,” while urging the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) to provide “all necessary security” for the electoral process, which will culminate in a presidential vote on 30th October 2016.
While condemning continued attacks against the civilian population by the terrorist group Al-Shabaab and urging Somali security forces and AMISOM, to expand their operations, to enable them deal with the group’s “evolving terror threats” the IGAD summit ended rubbing wrong shoulders in Somaliland.
In an article of their communique showing support for the unity of Somalia the IGAD member state heads claimed Somaliland was an intergalactic part of the Somalia Federal Government thence part and parcel of the road map leading to forthcoming elections in the war torn country under siege by Al-Shabaab and occupation by numerous foreign troops.
At dinner party cum consultation meeting hosted for the Somaliland national recognition committee by president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo at the presidency in Hargeisa, regional and global bodies as well as governments fronting the federal Government in Somalia were condemned for continued ignorance and denial of the quarter century existence of Somaliland as a sovereign and self ruling country.
We hereby affirm to the international community that nobody in Mogadishu, now or in the future represents Somaliland” said president Silanyo adding that continued denial of his country’s sovereignty and self-rule is a miscalculation through ignorance by the international community .
Adding that the people and government of Somaliland not only supports international efforts to revive peace and security in Somalia, establish elected representation but ready to assist in any way possible.
Said he, “ In this respect we in Somaliland are not only ready but prepared as well in giving a hand towards the efforts by the IC and AU to reconcile and restore peace between our warring brothers and sisters in Somalia” 
At the same breath president Silanyo who reiterated the irrevocability of his country’s sovereign Courtesy of unanimous desire by citizens, and detailing the Somaliland nationhood emanating from 1887, the head of state urged the international community and more so the African Union to review stand on the recognition of Somaliland and dispatch fact finding missions thence evade misinformation and make decisions made from empirical knowledge.

Adding that, So, once again, let me reiterate and confirm to the world that Somaliland is a free, independent and sovereign country and not as misconstrued a region of Somalia under administration by the Somalia federal Government in Mogadishu.
