HARGEISA- (Somalilandsun) – The country is under no perceived security threat for either foreigners or nationals.

The Police Commander, General Abdilahi Fadal Iman has stated that “Somaliland’s National Security is under control and well Maintained during a press statement that was in response to Sunday’s British government’s warnings towards Somaliland foreigners.

The British Foreign Commonwealth Office-FCO issued a warning Britons in Somaliland of security threats thus advising them to leave immediately.

Though travel advice states that kidnappings throughout the country of Somalia are taking place, through motivation of”… criminality and terrorism” it has failed to reveal in any form or wording how the insecurity in that country affects Britons and westerners working or living in the Republic of Somaliland which is a sovereign country thus unaffected by he mayhem and turbulence in Somalia.

In his press statement the Police commissioner Gen Abdilahi Fadal Iman had this to say:

“Every single month, we continue to substantially enhance the security and the protection of all people in Somaliland and in particular that of foreigners”.

Gen Fadal invited British security forces who are very conversant with the country to send an assessment team thus witness firsthand, the level of professional security, and the various types of police forces and intelligence across the Republic of Somaliland.

In conclusion the national police commissioner re-emphasised the government’s commitment to the profusion of security thus a conducive working environment for all expatriates across the country.
