Somalilandsun: Somaliland minister of telecommunication technology Mr.Abdiweli Sheikh Yusuf Jibril has revealed that a plan to secure the country new internet infrastructure is in advanced stage.
Speaking to the a local daily Horn Newspaper the minister said that they are aware of telecommunications masts which have been placed in residential areas that pose hazard to people.
He also confirmed that they have purchased equipment to monitor radio waves across the country. According to the minister the internet and government websites need to be secured.
Minister Abdi weli stated “We are in the process to secure our internet infrastructure from outside threats. We also need to make sure that telecommunication masts put up by mobile phone companies don’t emit radioactive waves that may be harmful to the health of population.”
The minister went on to say that the country although developing has made great strides in terms of technology.
