Somaliland: FM on Circumstances Leading to Somalia Talks Glitch

Somalilandsun- Somaliland’s foreign Affairs minister Dr.Sa’ad Ali Shire has confirmed the postponement of Somaliland/Somalia talks for a month following an avoidable circumstances.
“As you all know our parliament rubber stamped the talk however because of some issues beyond our power the talks had to be put off for a month, after the grace period is over we will see if it will be appropriate to continue with negotiations.”
On the other side of the coin the Somalia president a Mr.Mohammed Abdillahi alias Farmajo held an impromptu news conference in Mogadishu to announce that Somaliland/Somalia talks will commence soon.
“I you all know soon we will start talks with Somaliland. This is important because our somali brothers cannot stay separated from us as we have many thing in common. The Somali people are brothers so we will have to solve our differences on the negotiation table.” President Farmajo stated.
What has transpired?
It looks as if the Somaliland/Somalia talks will affect the recent economic development tripartite deal Somaliland signed with UAE and Ethiopia. This follows a recent public outburst by Somalia PM condemning the DP World deal with Somaliland.
President Musa Bihi of Somaliland termed Somalia’s PM interference in Somaliland affairs a declaration of war and in a strong worded statement cautioned Somalia to let the sleeping dog lie.

It seems the Qataris are behind the scenes fueling the diplomatic war of words between Somaliland and Somalia taking advantage of their rivalry with the UAE.
According to sources close to the Horn Newspaper the Somalia president has received official invitation from the Qatari Emir and is expected to fly this week.
The Somalia government sided with the Qataris during their recent diplomatic war with their Arab neighbors and as a consequence become close to the Qataris. The Somalia president is expected to hold talks in Doha to counter Somaliland agreement with the UAE.
