Spectrum Healthcare PRESS RELEASE
Somalilandsun – A specialist UK provider of mobility aids and evacuation equipment is set to launch its new product to the African market.
Spectrum’s new ergonomically designed kneeling device – ErgoKneeler – will be showcased to potential customers at the Africa Health 2013 exhibition in Johannesburg.
The product is a uniquely profiled kneeling pad and stool, designed to reduce cumulative strain and promote musculoskeletal health in the knees across a range of low-working positions for nurses, midwives, orthotists and other healthcare workers.
Its ergonomic design alleviates compression forces and postural discomfort whilst promoting spinal posture. Moulded in polyurethane foam, the ErgoKneeler is easy to clean and has an active antibacterial additive incorporated into the foam for optimum infection prevention.
The company, whose main customers in the UK are hospitals, care homes, schools, universities and social services departments, is keen to develop contacts with South African distributors in the Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Healthcare sectors.
Spectrum will also showcase its evacuation products, which includes Ski Sheets, Ski Sleds, AlbacMats and ResQmats.
Stephen Clark, Sales and Marketing Director at Spectrum, said: “It’s long been recognised that low working postures such as kneeling and squatting are very uncomfortable and potentially damaging, with recent research showing that prolonged static kneeling can increase the risk of osteoarthritis in the knees.
“The ErgoKneeler has been designed specifically to prevent these health problems by combating postural discomfort. We are already selling the ErgoKneeler in Australia and New Zealand, but are now interested in developing our presence across Africa.
“Africa Health will be the ideal platform to launch the ErgoKneeler along with our evacuation product range to South African distributors.”
Spectrum is known in the UK for its innovative approach to providing evacuation solutions for large public buildings, in particular in places where residents or patients are not able to walk away to safety, and the company have supplied equipment to most of the UK’s NHS Trusts.
Africa Health 2013 will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from the 7 – 9 May. Spectrum will be exhibiting in Hall 3, stall 3J65.
