Position Title: IRI Somaliland Field Accountant
Supervisor: Resident Country Director
Location: Somaliland
Duration: 11 months with possible extension.

A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, the International Republican Institute (IRI) advances democracy and freedom worldwide by developing political parties, civic institutions, good governance and rule of law. IRI has a presence in over 65 countries around the world.
IRI has been active in Somaliland since 2002 during which time IRI has worked with political parties, Parliament, civil society and on elections. IRI is looking to recruit a talented, qualified and motivated Somaliland national for a one year with possibility of extension for Accountant position
The Accountant will manage all transactions related to the IRI project in Somaliland.
S/he will ensure that the outlined financial policies and procedures are implemented and
followed. The Accountant is responsible for providing complete and accurate field reports to the Regional Office for all field office financial activities. S/he will provide support in other finance areas as necessary and maintain a positive working relationship with the all IRI Office staff.
Job Description:
Disburse payments, collect invoices, receipts, and other supporting documentation;
keep good filing system
Enter all transactions into Quicken. Reconcile bank accounts to ledger (Quicken) and
Reconcile cash count to cash log at least weekly and to Quicken monthly
Prepare monthly Financial Package.
Collect Employees’ Timesheets and Leave Requests and review
Withhold payroll taxes and remit taxes to local tax authorities regularly
File various reports as required by local law and stay informed of all changes in applicable regulations
Review Staff’s per diem and non-per diem reconciliations
Maintain good records of all furniture and equipment as well as purchases and
yearly, inAugust, perform physical inventory of furniture and equipment,
Report to the Resident Country Director, regularly coordinating with the Regional Project accountant.
Assist in the review, reconciliation and evaluation of IRI Somaliland grant activities,
Assist the Resident Country Director in administration of the IRI Somaliland office.
Supervise IRI Somaliland accounts
Implement policies and procedures as required by IRI.
Qualifications:
Position requires a candidate who is politically neutral and non-partisan. Applicants with strong political affiliations will not be considered.
Somaliland national;
Bachelors’ degree in Accounting; Business Administration. At least 3 years of professional experience in the area of accounting;
Experience with INGO is a must;
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required;
Excellent computer skills, especially in Excel spread sheets, word processing and
internet/email;
Ability to work both independently and as a member of the team;
Must be flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties and work irregular
hours under unpredictable conditions.
Commitment to maintaining political neutrality throughout the term of the contract.
