Somalilandsun – Dahabshil Company has thanked the UK government for its ongoing commitment to find a solution which enables a safe and transparent remittance corridor to remain open with Somalia.
The thanks were extended by Dahabshil CEO Abdirashid Duale during a personal Tete ‘a’ Tete with the British Prime Minister David Cameroon on 1st April 2014 at the at Grosvenor House, London where the two were attending a Muslim News Awards Ceremony.
“I was pleased to have the opportunity to raise the issues facing the Somali remittance industry directly with the Prime Minister himself and would like to thank the UK government for their ongoing commitment to find a solution which enables a safe and transparent remittance corridor to remain open with Somalia. This is vital service for the Muslim community in the UK and overseas” Said the Dahabshil CEO
Barclays bank has put in jeopardy the remittance of money from the Diaspora to various destinations among them Somaliland after The British owned bank decided to close accounts maintained by Money Service Bossiness though Dahabshil has won a stay of the decision’s execution.
The Dahabshil CEO who was among invited guests at the Muslim News Awards for Excellence 2014 cum 25th anniversary celebrations where he parleyed the British PM said that the company was extremely proud and honoured to be part of the function in lieu of the importance attached to the work of the news organization as pertains to recognition of Muslim talent and the contribution of the Muslim community to British Society.
, Mr. Abdirashid Duale, CEO of the Dahabshil Group, was proud to present the Fazlur Rahman Khan Award for Excellence in Engineering, Science and Technology to Dr Farid Khan for his outstanding contribution to technological innovation in the field of human health in the UK and the Developing World.
In 2013, Dahabshil was honoured to be the recipient of the Excellence for Enterprise award for its vital role in fostering social development and increasing financial stability in developing countries through remittance finance.
In his address to the function Mr. Duale said:
“I am extremely proud and honoured to be part of the Muslim News Awards for Excellence. The awards are an important way to celebrate success and recognize the contribution of Muslims from all walks of life to British Society.
Dahabshil has in the past been recognized for the contribution we have made to the communities that we serve and for supporting increased financial stability in Somalia. These principles remain at the heart of our business.
