Somalilandsun: A fishing vessel and it’s crew are in the custody of the Somaliland Coast Guard’s unit operating in Sayla headquarters of its western sector
The capture is related to illegal fishing within Somaliland territorial waters by the vessel said to be registered in Djibouti from where the trip emanated from.
It is yet to be verified on circumstances leading to officials in Djibouti allowing one of their registered vessels to fish illegal in Somaliland.
The coast guard is yet to divulge official information on the matter as well as subsequent action in the offing but suffice is to say Somaliland authorities are gradually enforcing international laws related to such contraventions.
