According to MP Abdiqadir Jama Hamud of the Somaliland House of Representatives “Residents and livestock in Badan district of Sanaag region are facing a life and death as a result of acute water shortages”

MP Hamud who represents Badan district in parliament told Dawan media group that unless urgent measures are put in place addressing the acute water shortages in his constituency deaths untold both human and livestock will occur.

The claims on clan (Darood) basis on the eastern parts of Sanaag and Sool regions of Somaliland by president Abdiweli Gaas of Puntland have resulted in a massive build-up by the Somaliland armed forces with the intent of deterring a proposed visit by Puntland authorities in both Badan and Buhoodle districts.
