WASHINGTON DC (Somalilandsun) – The media fraternity in the country has been wished tidings of progress during c9mmemorstions of the Somaliland National Media day 2013 to be held on 9th November.
In its message of congratulations extended to all individual Somaliland local journalists , the Somaliland Journalists Association-SOLJA and the ministry of information the Washington based Somaliland Media Watchdog body also recognized a number of media institutions for diverse achievements.
According to the Chairperson of the media watchdog Mr. Adam Abdi a number of media houses have acted in the interest of the nation while pursuing professional standards of reporting namely
• Somalilandsun website which the watchdog awarded a certificate for excellence in Ethics based reporting
• Somalilandtoday website for steadfastness in rebutting fallacious articles on issues Somaliland by the Mogadishu based Hiiraan online.
• Odweyne website for proper reporting on the ministry of health’s participation in an ongoing meeting in Mogadishu
In conclusion the Somaliland media watchdog statement urged other media outlets to embrace standards that protect Somaliland’s statehood.
The national media day commemorations which are organized by the Somaliland journalists association shall be commemorated nationwide with the main events held at the Mansoor hotel in Hargeisa on 9th November 2013 from 8 am.
