The Brtish Queen Receves Somalland Attorney General Hassan Ahmed Adan at Buckngham Palace

Somalilandsun – Attorney General Hassan Ahmed Adan of the Republic of Somaliland was among the dignitaries received by the Queen at Buckingham Palace during the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta attended by representatives of 120 governments.

Magna Carta is a charter agreed by King John of England at Runnymede, near Windsor, on 15 June 1215.

The attorney General of the Republic of Somaliland conveyed to the dignitaries attending the event how Somaliland has developed democratic system that recognises human rights values and the rule of law in the country.
This was a public relations opportunity for the government of Somaliland and a sign that Britain has special status for its former colony in the Horn of Africa.
The government of the United Kingdom maintains an office in the capital of Somaliland. Visas are given to Somalilanders traveling to UK through the British Embassy in Addis Ababa.
Although , the UK does not formally recognise Somaliland , the country provides special status to Somaliland through facilitation of Aid , training of security forces and creating platforms for communications with Somalia.
Somaliland seceded from Somalia on May 18 1991 after the bloody civil war that had left tens of thousands of Somalilanders dead. The country has since held two presidential elections , three local government elections and one parliamentary election.
