Somaliland: 28,000 Students Sit for School Final Exams Nationwide

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Teachers recruited as examination invigilators have not been assigned to schools in which they teach.

This was revealed by the Somaliland ministry of education director of examinations Daud Ahmed Farah during a telephone interview with Dawan newspaper in which he also revealed that all secondary and primary schools with form four and class eight are examination centres for the school year 2016/17.
Somaliland education minister Abdilahi Habane at an examination centreSimilarly he revealed that the final national examinations for form four and class eight that started on the 1st July have a total 28,000 participants in 524 examination centres nationwide.
According to the director of examinations 11,000 form four students are sitting their final examinations in 121 centres nationwide while 17,000 class eight pupils are sitting their final primary school tests in 403 centres in all of Somaliland.
Somaliland school exam in hargeisa photo by Khadar Mohamed Hashi While stating that both the number of students sitting their final primary and secondary schools examinations as well as centres have seen an increase the exam director also revealed that schools in Badan district of Sanaag region that participated in Puntland examinations are now sitting the current one in Somaliland.
What is yet to be clarified are measures put in place to deter rampant examination cheating in which students utilize viber, whattsapp, facebook messenger, IMO, and skype among other apps to get answers from outside the examination room.
