Somalilandsun- The opposition party Wadani is set for internal elections of flag bearers in the Somaliland presidential elections
According to the party’s general secretary Mohamed Abdilahi Ura’ade, a two days party national convention shall be from 19th-20th Oct in Hargeisa where delegates shall have the opportunity to elect and confirm nominees for party presidential and vice president candidates for the nationwide presidency pools slated for 28th March 2017;
Former party leader cum speaker of Somaliland Abdirahman Irro is the sole party candidate for president while his running shall be elected from one of the two contestants namely Ahmed Mumin Seeth currently the party’s first deputy chairman and former diplomat Mohamed Ali Abdi, both from Awdal province, Somaliland’s western region.
The party’s SG also informed that the national convention shall also be tasking with approving various amendments to the opposition party’s constitution as well as similar action to a political pact entered with former kulmiye party members who joined the ranks recently led ex-presidency minister Hirsi Haji Ali and including his foreign affairs colleagues Mohamed Behi Yonis among others.
Hundreds of delegates from all the regions of Somaliland are already in the capital Hargeisa for participation in the Wadani party national convention.
