Hargeisa (Somalilandsun.com)- Khadra Dahir Egeh, One of the most famous and legendary Somali artists, was today laid to rest in a state funeral at Haleya cemetery, east of Hargeisa.
Khadra Dahir Egeh has been in a state of illness for the last two weeks and died of pneumonia at Hargeisa International Hospital on Saturday evening at the age of 65.
Somaliland vice president Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail along with cabinet members, political parties officials, famous Somali poets, hundreds of Hargeisa residents, and family members attended the state funeral.
Speaking at the funeral, VP Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail sent his deepest condolences to the family, and friends of the late Khadra Dahir Egeh and prayed to ALLAH to make Jannatul Fardowsa her home, and to give patience and faith to his family, relatives, and the Somali people in general.
Famous Somali poets who attended the funeral conveyed their condolences.
Being well known Artist, actor, and legendary singer, she began her career in 1974 when she was only 19 years old. She became one of the leading figures of the Waberi Band.
Born in 1957, Khadra Dahir Egeh was one the prominent and famous Somali female singers in the 1970s and 80s and during her nearly four decades-long career in the Somali music industry, Khadra is estimated to have recorded thousands of songs with deeper emotions of love and sorrow.
Khadra Dahir, who had been living in Hargeisa for the past decade, left behind five children.
