Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya hosting half a million people is the biggest in the world

Somalilandsun- Kenya and Somalia, the Eastern African countries which share a border, are in contention over the closure of the Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya. Dadaab is reputed to be the world’s largest refugee camp, although it is situated in Garissa, Kenya, majority of its population is from Somalia. Opened in 1991, the camp served as a shelter for Somalis fleeing the civil war. With the involvement of international humanitarian organisations, the camp has evolved into an urban area with public service buildings such as schools and hospitals. Now, however, due to terrorism and other issues, the Kenyan government has decided to close the camp and this is not sitting well with the Somali government and other international organisations.
