HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The Hawd regional football team is intent on wrestling the soccer title from Maroodi-jeeh.
The two shall meet in the finals of the football championships that shall also close the curtains on the ongoing annual regional sports tournament in Hargeisa.
During the Tuesday semi-final matches played at Hargeisa stadium which is also venue of the finals the reigning champions Maroodi-jeeh beat Gabile 2-1 while Hawd beat upstarts Daad-madeed 1-0.
The semifinal losers shall meet on Thursday to contest for the 3rd and 4th position while the finalists shall play the following day at Hargeisa stadium which is Maroodi-jeeh’s homeground promised by Hawd supporters as its (Maroodi-jeeh) waterloo on Friday.
According to Hawd which on its maiden tournament held at Almazy stadium in Burao and narrowly defeated by Maroodi-jeeh in the finals, this year round the situation is different and the soccer cup is destined for Baligubadle the regions capital.
A full house is expected at the 10,000 seater Hargeisa stadium where spectators led by President Ahmed M Silanyo and other dignitaries have promised attendance.
What is there to say apart from “May the best or is it Lucky team win” Since the three teams From Badan, Buhodle and Daad-madeed regions that Somalilandsun supported have been eliminated .
