Somalilandsun:The head of state H.E Musa Bihi Abdi yesterday met with the UN secretary
general special representative to Somaliland and Somalia Mr.Michael
Keatings. During the meeting the president was flanked by the vice
president H.E Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismael (Sayli’i).
Also in attendance was the chairman of the House of Elders Hon. Suleiman
Mohamud Adam, speaker of parliament Hon.Bashe Mohammed Farah and the
minister of foreign affairs Mr.Sa’ad Ali Shire. According to news filtering
out of the meeting the president and ambassador Keatings discussed
strengthening the working relationship between the UN and Somaliland.
On his part the president of Somaliland H.E Musa Bihi Abdi informed the
special envoy Mr.Keating about the development the country had stridden he
promised to work with the community of nation to attain whatever for the
sake of the good of the Horn of Africa region as a whole. The president
revealed to Mr.Keating that his government will make sure that the upcoming
parliamentary and council elections are held as slated next year.
The ambassador thanked president Bihi for his multi- facial efforts to work
with the international community in the development of the region. He
promised to continue the close contact the UN has with Somaliland to help
her initiate development programs that are worthwhile.
After the end of the meeting the foreign affairs Mr.Sa’ad Ali Shire
informed the media about the agenda of the talks these are his words “The
president and the special representative of the UN secretary general for
Somaliland and Somalia have talked about humanitarian issues , torrential
rains, security and the upcoming parliamentary and council election
scheduled for March 2019 and how he UN will work with Somaliland for her
own goodness.”
