This unprecedented event took place in Faraweine a district in the outskirts of Hargeisa where a large number of relatives, friends and town residents were on hand to witness the marriage said to be unique in the annals of Somaliland.
The joyful event full of curious people saw youthful local boy Mohamed Abdi Muhumed officially take both Ms Suhur Abdi Eidle and Rooda Osman as his legally wedded wives.
According to Islamic tenets a man can marry up to four wives which usually occurs at various times thence the simultaneous marriage of two spouses at a go elicited the huge curiously among residents that led to the elaborate and lavish wedding arranged.
Upon completion of regular song and dance associated with weddings the brides and groom left for their home which the trio are sharing.
Though it is the first time for Faraweine to host such a function, a man marrying two spouses at the same time has been recorded in the Somaliland capital Hargeisa on several occasions.
