Somaliland: UNFPA Boosts Local MCH’s

Somalilandsun – The Somaliland ministry of health obtained ten investments for four MCHs for regional administration as the Direct General of the Ministry of Health Mr. Osman Hussein Warsame revealed during a supervision visit to two MCHs in Salahley district and Abarso village.

Hence the trip, a delegate from UNFPA and other contemporaries shared the field trip activities. The director general due to his speech said “today our aim of visiting here is the beginning of regular visit in which we (the ministry and UNFPA) analyze and supervise the regional health centers in Somaliland basically their conditions in each site”.

Due to his speech for instance emphasized that the UNFPA is their partnership with the Ministry supporting the new initiative and upgrading the day to day activities in Somaliland Health centers.

On the other hand, the MCH officers in Abarso and Salahley reported to the DG how the community absorbs to the MCH. Consequently, Dr. Abdirahman Hersi Mohamed (Heliyo) who is the Director of Mother and Child Care of the Ministry “Our aim is to completely visit the MCHs in Somaliland as well as to upgrade their capacity building to cover the basic necessary services of the community” he said.

Adding that Mr. Abdirahman deeply pointed out the first priority of those MCHs are mother and child care to be eased the pregnant mothers. “In order to reach our target we have to support our vulnerable people and give them the necessary facilities in anywhere in the country” he said.

Abaarso MCH which is recently inaugurated by the Ministry of Health has well functioning in particularly First Aid Services supporting the accidents between Hargeisa and Gebiley. We comprehensively targeting to improve 89 MCH apart from the 10 MCH pilot project analyzing
