HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The UK government has inspected prevailing status of the Rapid Reaction Unit-RRU of the Somaliland police it trains and equips.
This development follows a visit to Hargeisa by the UK government’s Deputy National Security Adviser Mr. Julian Miller where he inspected the RRU headquarters in the city accompanied by President Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo.
Details of a meeting between the two who had met prior to the RRU tour are still vague as no briefing has been given to the press both local and international by officials of either government.
Though the visit by Miller was shrouded in secrecy as well Somalilandsun sources indicate that the objective pertains to the enhancement of Security and economic cooperation between the London and Hargeisa governments.
Somaliland which has remained internationally isolated for 234 years since withdrawing from its 1960 voluntary later turned fateful union with Italia Somalia is a former British protectorate.
