Somalilandsun -Somalia signed the UNICEF Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), making Somalia the 195th state to ratify the convention.
While the ratification means that Somali children now have legally binding rights with the CRC, providing the framework for the government to promote and protect those rights, and despite p roddings by the international community that props the Mogadsihu based authorities an estimated 5000 children are actively involved in combat duties Reveals the UN in a report which indicates that recruitment and use of young children as soldiers was documented, and at surprisingly high numbers.
