Somaliland: State Jumpstarts 24th Independence Anniversary Commemorations

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Undeterred by international recognition of its sovereignty the people and government of the republic of Somaliland are set for Independence Day celebration

As per is our annual norm we are going to celebrate our country’s independent day on the 18th May 2015 which shall be the 24th to be commemorated nationwide and by our citizens in the Diaspora read a statement from the presidency.
In the stamen the president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo also decreed the establishment of a committee to organize the celebrations in the country and coordinate the commemorations in the Diaspora.
In the presidential decree # JSL/M/MG/241-3185/042015 Minister of Interior Mohamed Ali Waran’ade was named chairperson of the 18th May 2015 organizing committee with the following as members
1. Minstar of Finance Ms Zamzam Abdi Aden
2. Minister of Education Farah Elmi Mahmud
3. Minister of Public works and Transport Abdirizaq Khalif
4. Minster of Information and Culture Abdilahi Ukuse
5. Minister of Environment and Rural Development Ms Shukri Haji Bandare
6. Mayor of Hargeisa Councillor Abdirahman Soltelco
7. Director General at the presidency ministry
8. Chairperson Human Rights Commission
9. Member of Parliament Ahmed Mohamed Diriye ‘Nanaa’ and
10. Citizen Abdilahi Jama Osman ‘Geeljire’

Addressing the above committee the head of state wrote
Quote- Ladies and Gentlemen, as you are aware the 18th May Somaliland Independence Day is imminent ‘Inshallah’ and n lieu of the importance attached to this day
You the above named persons have been appointment as members of the 24th Somaliland Independence day Anniversary commemorations National organizing committee

To this effect, I expect your committee to handle the onerous national responsibilities mandated with diligence while asking all officials at District and regional levels as well as all members of local councils countrywide to avail all relevant assistance-unquote
