Somaliland: Sovereignty Negotiators Depart for Turkey hosted Talks with the SFG

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – If the Somalia Federal Government-SFG does not request further postponements its oft delayed resumption of talks with Somaliland shall take place in Ankara, Turkey on the 15th January 2014.

As part of its participation in the internationally sanctioned talks between the two formerly united countries, a team of Somaliland negotiators led by Foreign Minister Mohamed Behi Yonis composed of government ministers and legislators has departed the country.

While briefing the press at the Egal International airport in Hargeisa FM Behi Yonis said that his negotiation team which has the full blessing of the government and parliament has only one agenda of “The Sovereignty of Somaliland”

Those in the Behi led team include the presidency, livestock, social services Hirsi H Ali, Abdi Aw Dahir and Hon Garad respectively and augmented by MP Kijande as well as the first and second deputy speakers of the Somaliland parliament MPS Bashe M Farah and Hon Yusuf.

According to Foreign minister Behi Yonis the Somaliland negotiators shall be in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa where they shall particulate in a high ranking negotiation skills based workshop before proceeding to Ankara.

It is not yet clear who the SFG negotiators are since the new prime minister is yet to constitute his government
