HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – 30 days of Fasting in Somaliland shall begin on Wednesday and not earlier as expected.
This was revealed by the minister of Religion and endowment Sheikh Khalil Abdilahi Ahmed during a live announcement via Radio Hargeisa in which he said that the moon dictating the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan has neither been sighted in the country or within those neighbouring.
While urging citizens and Muslims at large to observe the holy month of Ramadan by fasting as prescribed by the Islamic religious tenets Sheik Khalil also warned of dire consequences to the unscrupulous few found cooking and selling food to the public during fasting hours.
During the 30 days of the Holy month of Ramadan all able bodied adults are expected to fast by abstaining from the consumption of liquids or foods daily from dawn to dusk.
