Somalilandsun- Bi-lateral Relations with the UAE are set for new improved dimensions.

This was unanimously agreed during a meeting between president Silanyo of Somaliland and the UAE’s minister of the presidency Sheikh Mansur Bin Saeed.

Upon a comprehensive briefing to the UAE presidency by Dr Silanyo and members of his entourage the UAE government promised to increase its direct support to Somaliland for ongoing projects and those in the planning stages.

Thanking the UAE government for its invitation and subsequent warm reception the president H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo informed that, a preamble to attaining his government’s policy of uplifting livelihoods and alleviating poverty is the development of a number of sectors.

“Of major import is the conclusion of the UAE funded Hargeisa water extension project and an imperative need for support in the development of the Erigavo –Burao road” said Dr Silanyo

On the issue of job creation for the large cadre of graduating youths the head of state further discussed the possibility of support in establishment polytechnics thus acquisition of skills for blue colour jobs that are currently non-existent .

According Dr Omar says UAE meetings succesfulto the minister of Foreign affairs Dr Mohamed Abdilahi Omar discussions with the UAE authorities that ended in success were held in a cordial and friendly revolved around the sectors of Education, Health, roads, Economy, among others.

The foreign minister informed that the UAE presidency minister asked the Somaliland delegation to scout relevant school designs in the various Emirates of the gulf country thus construction in Somaliland through Emirati peoples funding.

At a pre-departure press conference at the Berbera international airport VIP lounge the head of state informed that his visit is as a result of an official invitation extended him by the UAE government thus parley on strengthening existing bi-lateral relations between the two friendly countries.

Dr Silanyo who recently returned from a very successful and similar state visit to Turkey also informed that it was his duty as the head of state to undertake activities both internally and externally that relate to the good of the country.

Said he, “My mandate, as their democratically elected president of Somaliland is to pursue relations that are beneficial to the livelihoods of citizens”
