Somaliland: Nation Commemorates a Shaqodoon Facilitated Global Entrepreneurship Week

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – At a function held in the capital Hargeisa various dignitaries participated in a function Promoting Entrepreneurship and Innovations in Somaliland facilitated by Shaqodoon.
In attendance at the event which was part of the country’s commemoration of the Global Entrepreneurship week were ministers Hirsi Haji Ali-Presidency, Saeed Raygal –Youth and sports, Abdiaziz Samale-Finance and Dr Qassim of commerce among others that included traditional, religious and political leaders.
What is Global Entrepreneurship Week?
Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators, who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and Better the human welfare. Every year in November GEW holds one week festivities to inspire people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential self-starters and innovators.

These activities, from large-scale competitions and events to cherish networking – gatherings, connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors; introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.

Themed Creativity, Self-sufficiency and Personal Initiative the Somaliland events commemorating GEW 2014 had Shaqodoon its organizers set very ambitious Program Objectives that pertained to youth Inspiration, Connecting and mentoring among others
a) TO INSPIRE.
Introduce the notion of entrepreneurial behavior to as many people who otherwise might not have considered it as a path in their life.
b) TO CONNECT.
Network people across national boundaries in a regional effort to find new ideas at the intersection of cultures & disciplines.
c) TO MENTOR.

Enlist active and inspirational innovators for Hargiesa to coach and mentor the next generation as they pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

d) TO ENGAGE.
Demonstrate to opinion leaders and policymakers that entrepreneurship is central to a nation’s economic health and culture and to provide different nations with the opportunity to learn from each other on entrepreneurial policy and practice.

e) TO FACILATATE LINKAGE
To encourage networking for employment opportunities, the events will seek to leverage these networks, facilitating hubs where by youth jobseekers and business communities may enter social and business networks to look for further skill development, new employment and private sector investment.
