HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) -Local NGOs that receive food rations from the international humanitarian agency WFP have denied accusations by food co ordination office (FCO) that they sell food intended for the poverty strikes eastern region inhabitants.
Speaking during a joint press conference these NGOs claimed that since the naming of the new manager for (FCO) they have encountered problems as a result of his appointment many project that would have been implemented have stalled.
They asked the president H.E Ahmed Mohammed Mohamed (silanyo) to intervene.
Addressing the press Mr. Mohamed Hussein from the local NGO Haqsoor said that the 13 local NGO were not involved in any corruption what so ever. “We are 14 local NGO who work a long WFP in food distribution sector the project we work for is known as (food for work) that we implement with dams, roads, and water catchment projects.
The local organizations defended WFP against accusation level against it by the auditor general office.
They claimed some people who have ulterior motives against the people of eastern region of Somaliland have plotted to dent the name of WFP.

The local NGOs are KAYVO,Hagsoor,SAY,HaDDO,SCAN,SEMAD,DARAJO,SALDOR,HCLO,SDJ,SVO,SDRRVO,ROWDO and SOOYAAL.
