HARGEISA (Somalilandsun)-The Speaker of the National Assembly Parliament’s lower House of the Representatives Hon. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi ‘Irro’ has welcomed the inclusion of the intellectual community into the intermediary initiatives that is going on trying to bridge the gap in the bitter parliamentary power struggles that pits two major camps against each other.
“I readily respectfully acknowledge the interest shown by the intellectual fraternity of trying to join the conciliatory efforts underway”, said the Speaker upon receiving the group who formally made the request.
“I do accept your request however you may have to extend the same to the other group”, Hon. Irro told his visitors whom the reports did not identify.
He joked, “Only the elderly used to be messengers of peace before, but nowadays we have to get used to even the youth joining the band”.
He noted that the first group to come as saviours were members of the upper House of the Parliament, the GUURTI, and then in line came eminent poets led by Hadrawi, Hassan Ginney, Taabir, Mohamed Adan Da’ar and Shaa’ir amongst others.
For the group to be binding intermediaries etiquette has it that both rival sides, in this case the speaker’s adversaries, have to give the intellectual group the nod and blessings to be part of the conciliation team.
