Somaliland: Hudun Brothers Succumb to Poisoned Fruit


Boy dies after eating a poisoned water melon in Hudun District of Sool region Somaliland

Somalilandsun- A gimmick to eliminate farms marauding animals has turned disastrous in Hudun district of Sool region after brothers consumed a poisoned fruit.
According to a report by Ramaasnews one boy has died while a sibling is in serious medical condition after they ate a water melon that had been poisoned by farm owners in order to killing wild animals devastating produce.
The two boys on the way to a local market entered the farm after seeing the water melon with the intent on satiating thirst and hunger only to end with death of one and serious health complications for the other currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Garowe town, the capital of Puntland, a Somalia administrative region to the East of Somaliland.
After a devastating drought and farmers having taken advantage of recent rains to plant their fields with an assortment of crops and vegetables are now forced to contend with attacks by wild animals like baboons and gazelles that destroy produce not only in Sool region but all ver the country.
Hudun is closer to Garowe than Hargeisa or BuraoDuring this time of sorrow the somalilandsun editorial board extends condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased boy while wishing fast recovery to the brother in hospital.
