BURAO (Somalilandsun) – The Minister of Information, Culture and National Guidance Hon. Abdillahi Mohammed Dahir U’kuse inaugurated the public national radio service, Hargeisa Radio, in Burao late on Friday.
The Hargeisa Radio FM services will for the first time be audible and heard in Togdeer and central parts of the republic in such releigh modulation. The FM services are swiftly accessed more than the SW ones and their decibels are better and highly defined.
In a well attended function marking the occasion at the Burao state lodge, Hon. U’kuse underscored the importance of the service noting that the need of the FM station was direly warranted.
“The region was utterly in need of this FM station and we are happy to inaugurate it”, said the minister.
The minister took the occasion to lambast the oppositionists, bringing them to their senses.
He said “The handful opposition rhetoric as may well be put to rest by the developmental steps the government has taken”.
He cited the doubling of the salaries of the civil services and the armed forces, the construction and upgrading of roads within towns and upcountry links, the building of government offices and their headquarters etcetera as but some of the gigantic achievements made by the state.
He underpinned the fact that when the government made such developmental steps, detractors had no say, and as such what the oppositionists blabber about held no water at all.
Amongst those present who also addressed the assembled audience were the regional governor Mr. Mohammed Muse Dirie, the Commerce Deputy Minister, eminent personalities and area businessmen.
