Somaliland: Government Invited to Tana Forum Conference on Horn Africa Security

Somalilandsun – The government of Somaliland is for the first going to participate in the Tana Forum conference held each five years in Ethiopia.

According to a press statement released by the Somaliland ministry of foreign affairs spokesperson and Chief Protocol officer Ahmed Yusuf Elmi ‘Sudi’ those to represent the country in the international conference are Foreign affairs minister Mohamed Behi Yonis and Interior minister Mohamed Ali Waran’ade.

The Tana forum 2014 which brings together all foreign diplomats in Addis Ababa is organized by the African Union in conjunction with the United Nations will be held at the Ethiopian town of Bahradaar on the 26th April.

This year’s meeting will deliberate the security situation in the Horn of Africa thus the official invitation to Somaliland in lieu of its importance as a main player in this arena, also translated as a covert and tacit  international recognition of Somaliland.

Meanwhile the two ministers accompanied by the Somaliland representatives in Ethiopia Aden Nuuh Dule were hosted for talks by the British Royalty currently visiting Ethiopia where fruitful discussions were held as pertains the two nation’s historic relations and the way forward.

Foreign affairs minister Mohamed Behi Yonis and his Interior colleague Mohamed Ali Waran’ade whose official diary is full to the brim had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Mwencha the deputy chair of the AU in his Addis Ababa offices where the continental body upon being briefed on issues pertinent to the Sovereignty of Somaliland was also urged to spearhead the granting of recognition.
