Somaliland: Government Allocates 2015 Elections in Annual National Budget

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The 2015 national budget is set for parliamentary approval or rejection after the finance minister Abdiaziz Samale and his state minister Osman Sahardiid made detailed briefs to legislators of the House of representatives on where each penny is to go.
The national budget for 20125 was initially submitted to the lower house of the Somaliland parliament on 12th Sept 201 immediately after a cabinet meeting chaired by Somaliland president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo approved it in Toto.
Superseding the current one by $30m Somaliland national budget approved by the cabinet stands at $250m with the central government allocated $180m and local councils the remaining balance of $70m.
It is expected that the budget that also includes the government’s contribution towards presidential and parliamentary elections slated for next year as well voter registration shall receive expedited debate and approval by parliament.
It is anticipated that the house of representatives whose petty politicking is responsible for the delays in debate and either rejection or approval of the figures for central coffers expenditure 2015 , shall see expedited action by the honourables as a prelude to forwarding it to Guurti the upper chamber of parliament for similar action.
