BURAO (Somalilandsun) – A Troupe of local artists based in the Togdeer Regional capital Burao and led by ribs breaking Comedian Sooran have released a short film on the 1960 voluntary union with Somalia.

While the 53 minutes of rib breaking laughter showcases upcoming artists from Togdeer region it also chronicles in mockery the various phases and difficulties surmounted by Somaliland during what turned to be a fateful union with former Italian Somalia.

The Midawgii Somaliland Iyo Somaliya film though full of satire is also one with good information on the Union events especially for youngsters in the two formerly united countries of Somaliland and Somalia whose union known as the Democratic republic of Somalia ended after an armed rebellion preceded by the mass murder of thousands of Somalilanders by forces loyal to Dictator Siad Barre.
